a little this and a lot of that {christmas home tour}

i guess i wanted to explain what this blog is... it is called my life in general and that is exactly it!

my life in general is:

*family
*crafts
*cooking
*dieting
*thrifting
*army life
*photos
*running
*getting in shape

and more. just can't think of more right now.
so i hope you'll join me on my adventure!

i have loved looking at christmas home tours on many blogs and instagram, i thought i would share mine! my home is not perfect but it is perfect for us. i love plugging in my christmas lights everyday, playing a little christmas music and I just warm up walking around my house at christmas.

this is the table behind my couch. just a dollar store tree, pine tree candles, and vintage ornaments.

just a quick doodle drawing on my chalkboard

i found this cute printable here

this little guy is in my dining room. it is my fave! it is full of the homemade ornaments we have made over the years!

in 2010 when kendall was in the 5th grade, she learned to make these "god's eye" and i just loved them. i loved the twigs and the fact we can change them with the color yarn we use. i am a merry and bright kind of person, so that is what i went with.

these little felt trees are so cute, but we ended up making about 50 of them- so the fun of making them wore off.... quickly.

i loved when we made snowmen on glass ball ornaments, but when you make quite a few of them sometimes you have to improvise.

inpsired by cracker barrel

ryan and i went to cracker barrel for brunch a couple days ago and i fell in love with the pail of pine cones they had by the fireplace. as soon as i got home i went to work and ended up with this! in love.

our advent calendar this year. a lot different than years past, as in- instead of 24 gifts, there were 4-5. mostly focused on seasonal events that i wanted to make special. like parades, tree lighting, fun christmas events.

we have a tiny bathroom downstairs. it's hard to decorate and photograph.

my favorite creation this year.

i started this wreath 4 years ago. by started i mean i wrapped tinsel around a straw wreath and hot glued one ornament. that's how it sat until 3 weeks ago.  i was ready to finish it! it took quite a while and i don't feel like it's done, it needs more ornaments to be evened out. but it's done for this year. it's huge and it's heavy. it won't fit on my front door because the screen door won't shut. and i've already broke one of my very favorite vintage ornaments. but i still love it!

be merry - target dollar section for the when

entry way

oh, hi. still in pj's :)
i made these last year and i love love love it!

seriously in love with my tree. it's fake and old, but full of memories!

christmas kept simple and small this year = less stress.

my vintage beauties. scattered through the house in vases, bowls, cups, baskets. etc.

i made the button tree years ago. funny thing- i've never finished the back, shhh. i made the burlap tree last year. and my made gave me her pine cone tree. i started another tree this year for my collection- you'll see it next christmas :)

thank you for visiting! xoxo- christina

Yearly Update....

Well, hi.

I'm back. For the 27th time. It is has been a year since my last update. Obviously a lot has happened.

  • Everyone is one year older.
  • Ryan has left and come back from Afghanistan.
  • We lived in Florida for the 6 months her was gone.
  • We have moved onto Fort Campbell.
  • I am now a half-marathoner.
  • Emily started playing the guitar.
  • Kendall is still a violinist.
  • We are all living under one roof again!

We are keeping busy making more ornaments this year.

Our advent calendar is a little different this year. Instead of little toys everyday- we do things. Write letters, go to events, help each other. Those are just the few we have done already. I will write up a post about it soon!

I'm off to get a haircut soon. I have to find someone new- it is so nerve racking to try a new hair stylist. Last time I got my haircut (by a new girl) it didn't turn out well, so wish me luck!

xoxo,
Christina
